Who Can Donate Blood?
Basic eligibility criteria and guidelines for blood donation.
General eligibility
Most healthy adults can donate blood when they meet the local age and weight requirements and feel well on the day of donation.
Before donating
Eat a balanced meal, drink enough water, carry identification, and tell the screening team about medicines, recent illness, travel, or procedures.
When to wait
Postpone donation if you are unwell, pregnant, recently had certain procedures, or have been advised to wait by a qualified clinician. The screening team makes the final eligibility decision.
For personal eligibility or medical advice, contact a qualified blood-bank professional or clinician.
